Christie Shoe
May 18, 1984 - November 3, 2007

This poem was written by my niece, Christie Shoe.  We found it in her journal/prayer diary.  Please feel free to print copies to share with others in honor of Christie.  It is a strong reminder of how much we need to show God's love to others.

Christie was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was about 6 months old.  She was in the hospital numerous times during her life.  When she was a young teen, she endured not one but two liver transplants.  As a result, her medications at meal times and throughout the day were overwhelming!  Enzymes, anti-rejection drugs, insulin, . . .   Yet, she got up each day with hopes and dreams of possibilities.  Even on her final day of life she had time for college, new friends, a new job, family, and movie/dinner with her boyfriend.

Her strength and perseverance in life are such an encouragement to me to keep going even when pains and trials come.  God will see us through!  As I had the privilege to read in her journals, it was obvious how important her family and friends were to her.  Yet, she leaned on God to share her deepest struggles and pains. She knew that He heard her prayers and was always present to comfort and guide her.

See ya later - Christie.  I know you are enjoying your new body.         --Aunt Nancy
