GOD - There is but one living and true God who is
perfect in all His attributes, one in essence, eternal existing in
three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each equally
deserving worship and obedience.
|
JESUS CHRIST - Jesus Christ is the son of God.
He is co-equal with the Father. He was both fully human and
fully divine. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered
Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying
on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to
demonstrate His power over death. He ascended to heaven's
glory and will return again someday to reign as King of Kings and
Lord of Lords.
|
THE HOLY SPIRIT - The Holy Spirit is co-equal with
the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to
make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also
lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He
provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of
spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives
every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As
Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.
|
THE BIBLE - The Bible (all 66 books) is God's written
revelation to people. It was written by human authors under
the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible constitutes the
only standard of faith and practice.
|
PEOPLE - People were directly and immediately created
by God in His spiritual image and likeness in character. God
created people to glorify Himself, enjoy God's fellowship and live
their life for God. But we are all marred by an attitude of
disobedience toward God called "sin". This problem separates
people from God and causes many problems in life.
|
SALVATION - Salvation is God's free gift to us, yet
each of us must individually choose to accept it. We can never
make up for our sin by self-improvement, morality or good works.
Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can
anyone be saved from sin's penalty. When we turn from our
self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved.
Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his
life by faith. Those who are genuinely followers of Christ
will persevere until the end. It is the grace and keeping
power of God that gives us security and guidance.
|
ETERNITY - People were created to exist forever.
We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or
eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Those
separated from God will spend eternity in Hell. Those who have
a relationship with God through Jesus Christ will spend eternity in
heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
|
THE CHURCH - The Church is made up of all people who
have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible speaks of the
church as a body with Jesus Christ as the head. Jesus states
that the purpose of the Church is to glorify God by communicating
God's Word; by celebrating God's presence; by incorporating God's
family; by educating God's people; and by demonstrating God's love
(Matthew 22:36-40; 28:19-20). Two ordinances have been
committed to the local church: baptism and the Lord's Supper (Acts
2:38-42).
